Derby Restaurant & Bar

I ate here for the first time this afternoon and I guarantee you, I will be back!! We were greeted and seated very quickly, by a smiling host. Our waitress was friendly and prompt. Today’s special @ 12.95, which included a meat, two vegetables and rolls/cornbread) was the fried chicken and it was tender, juicy, and delicious! I ordered the Mac & Cheese (what my Grandma would call a baked macaroni pie) and Lima beans, which were both mouthwateringly delicious!! Everything was neat and clean, with no water spots on the utensils. (For some reason that makes me happy) We were checked out by Nelson, the manager, and he was so nice! You could tell he was proud of his place and enjoyed his job. For the record, my lunch companion has eaten there many times over the years and tells me the food and service is consistently great!***Update!***I brought home my leftovers to have for lunch today. I rarely eat leftovers because they end up all soggy or too hard/soft, etc., but I wanted to give y’all a full and honest review, so here it is: The breading on the chicken was not soggy at all! Keep in mind that yours truly was raised a southern Baptist (I.e. fried chicken was supposed to be served every Sunday after church, and yes, they’re SURE it’s listed somewhere in the Bible), so I KNOW chicken! My Lima beans and Mac n Cheese held up perfectly and now I’m full as a tick and need a nap. I give five extra stars for still being delicious straight out of the microwave.

The food is great and my family loves coming here to eat.

Breakfast at The Derby thus morning. Never had breakfast there since the new ownship. OMG this "Breakfast Skillet" was to die for! I'd eat that every day. Huge Breakfast menu. Cooked to order. Waitress was knowledgeable of the menu and the rest if the staff was friendly as she was. These new owners know what they are doing and know how to make ya belly smile.

My wife and I had dinner Saturday night at the Derby and had a wonderful experience. Our waitress was great as they were extremely busy and short helped however , they handled the situation with great ease and professionalism. We plan on adding this restaurant to our list of places we will frequent again !

Great place to go with family and friends for a great meal. Friendly staff and prices are right for what you get. Have been going there for 12 plus years and have never been disappointed. Their desserts are great as well. Try it I think you will like it. They serve specials for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Enjoy!

The food is always great and your food is ready and served faster than most places. Nelson is a great manager who is friendly and always willing to go the extra mile to help customers. He knows my name when I come in the store and always greets me with a smile which is rare in this day and age of food service. Frankly, if anyone wants to complain about him then he or she is the problem. Not Nelson.

I ordered the Friday special, the broiled flounder, with two sides: collard greens and rice and gravy. The flounder came fresh and hot with two small balls of hushed puppies included. I like that the fish is well-seasoned and I could taste the lemon in the butter. The collard greens was cooked perfectly too. However, the rice and gravy was a bit bland; not a big problem, though, since there were salt and pepper shakers on the table.My husband ordered the fried chicken sandwich with a side of mashed potatoes. He loved everything and emptied his plate in minutes.
